Back in the days before auto tune and fancy engineering there were great talents like Judy Garland! The show For The Love Of Judy is part one of a community enrichment series, exposing students and audience’s to the incredibly talented, hard working, and timeless entertainers: Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra (coming in December 2015). Audiences will enjoy songs like Get Happy, Over The Rainbow, and Smile to name just a few.
This summer we will emerse the children into Judy’s music and staging in our Somewhere Over The Rainbow summer camp. It will be an intensive week of learning the three major skills of musical theater, which include: dancing, singing and acting. The kids will work under the instruction of 4 industry professionals Gina Feliccia, Michael Guanera and Sarah Uriarte Berry under the musical direction of Pam Phillips. They will gain an inclusive and exclusive professional experience most people could only dream of. The show For The Love Of Judy is full of history, her musical influences, and "real hollywood story's", told as though you are watching Judy right before your eyes. Sarah transforms from herself into Judy seamlessly. Michael was in Jackson last Spring when he directed Spring Into Overdrive. He previously directed and staged Judy Garland's real life daughter; Lorna Luft in Songs My Mother Taught Me, as well as Deana Martin in a tribute to her dad; Dean Martin.
Big City Broadway hopes to musically enrich every community member from school age to the elderly.
